Fibonacci retracements and extensions
Fibonacci levels are horizontal price levels derived from the Fibonacci sequence that many traders watch as potential support, resistance, and profit targets. This calculator computes them from a single swing high and swing low.
How to use this calculator
Enter the swing high and swing low of the move you are measuring, and choose whether the trend is up (price retraces down into support) or down (price retraces up into resistance). The calculator returns each level as a price.
The levels
- Retracements β 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, 78.6%. These mark potential pullback zones within a trend. The 50% level is not a true Fibonacci ratio but is watched by convention. The 61.8% “golden ratio” is the most closely followed.
- Extensions β 127.2% and 161.8%. These project beyond the original move and are commonly used as profit targets.
Use them as zones, not magic lines
Fibonacci levels work best as areas of interest where you look for confirmation β a candlestick signal, a trendline, a prior level β rather than as exact turning points. They describe where price might react; they do not predict that it will.
