About the rates

Rates are reference mid-market rates published daily by the European Central Bank (via the Frankfurter service). They sit between the buy and sell prices and are ideal for information and comparison — but they are not tradeable quotes. A bank, broker or exchange will apply a spread and fees, so the rate you actually receive will differ.

Mid-market vs the rate you get

The mid-market rate is the midpoint between what buyers pay and sellers accept. It is the “true” exchange rate you see quoted in the news. When you actually exchange money, the provider adds a margin — which is why comparing the mid-market rate to your provider’s rate tells you how much the conversion really costs you.
